About Us
Dr. Hsu (pronounced "shoe") is among only a handful of people in the United States to have ben awarded the degree of Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (D.A.O.M.). He received his D.A.O.M. from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (P.C.O.M.) in San Diego. He also holds a Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine (M.S.T.O.M.) degree from P.C.O.M. in New York City. Dr. Hsu is board certified as a Diplomate in Acupuncture and a Diplomate in Chinese Herbology. He is among the first group of Americans to be a board certified Diplomate in Oriental Medicine from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), the most advanced level of certification available. Dr. Hsu is certified by the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (CCAOM) in Clean Needle Technique and he is state licensed as a Licensed Acupuncturist in New York (NY). Dr. Hsu is also a graduate of New York University, College of Arts and Science in New York City.
Dr. Hsu has performed clinical rotations through the Department of Anesthesiology and the Department of Pain Management at Bellevue Hospital Center and New York University Langone Medical Center in New York City.
Dr. Hsu has taught at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. His native fluency in both English as well as in Chinese creates a unique environment for learning Traditional Chinese Medicine.
While practicing in the Taiwan City Hospital System, Dr. Hsu rotated through the departments of Internal Medicine, Gynecology, Dermatology, Traumatology, and Pediatrics. His focus was in Acupuncture and Herbal Pharmacology. He is a strong believer in using Traditional Chinese Medicine in coordination with Western Medicine to treat disease and to maintain wellness.
Dr. Hsu has been published in professional journals such as the American Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He has also contributed to Dr. Oz's Reader's Digest article. He has also discussed acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine on Dr. Oz's Oprah and Friends XM radio show and Doctor Radio on Sirius.
Dr. Hsu was featured on and has consulted for the Oprah Winfrey Show. He introduced acupuncture to Oprah and her viewers. Recommended to Oprah by the world-renowned surgeon and best-selling author, Dr. Mehmet Oz, Dr. Hsu, in front of a live studio audience, performed acupuncture on Oprah. Although it was the first time Oprah had ever received acupuncture, she bravely and graciously shared her experience with everyone. Later on the show, Dr. Hsu treated a woman who had been suffering from chronic and debilitating back and shoulder pain for years. After just one treatment, her pain had disappeared. Oprah exclaimed, "Fantastic!" and "I'm going to get it on my knee!"
